Powered by the National Blacks in Travel and Tourism Collaborative (BTT), a leading innovator of DEI and sustainable tourism initiatives and resources for the global travel and tourism industry, we are pleased to introduce the industry's first official Black Cultural Heritage Tours (BCHT) Certification program. BTT was the first to officially introduce Black cultural tour products to the global travel and tourism industry in 2021 at IPW, the world's largest international buyer show held in the U.S.
BTT is intentional about promoting new cultural heritage tour products under the Black Cultural Heritage Tours Collection brand to distinguish these itineraries from existing Black history tour itineraries that have only highlighted the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
Through the Official Black Cultural Heritage Tour itineraries developed by BTT and Cultural Heritage Alliance for Tourism, Inc., a Black-owned receptive tour operator, in partnership with several small Black minority suppliers, we are creating a broader narrative of the Black experience and cultures in the U.S. that bridge the past to the present and offer transformative experiences to culturally curious travelers.
The Black cultural heritage tour products are intentionally designed to level the playing field for small, Black minority suppliers to position them to actively participate and profit in the global travel and tourism industry.
The BCHT Certification is a requirement for minority suppliers partners. In addition, it is extended to travel advisors and international tour operators to equip them with knowledge and tools to promote and sell Black cultural heritage tour products.
